Starting at the upper part of this trail, it wanders through classic Appalachian forest, with a few switchbacks it crosses South Highway 80 (NC 80) then continues along the toe river. The Lower half of the trail offers spectacular views of the Toe River and a great short easy hike. <br />

Both Trailheads are located within Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area. The upper trailhead is located on the upper campground loop just uphill from the bathrooms. The lower trailhead is located at "the Large Rocks" on the lower campground loop.
